New! ART, Mindfulness and Wellbeing

February 24th 2022

10am to 4pm at Sarum College

When we practice art based coaching, the imaging process uses a meditative and mindful approach that helps our clients access a deeper part of themselves. We have also seen over the pandemic how people have turned to creating art as a way to manage their mental and physical wellbeing.

In this one day workshop we explore and experience why and how art is naturally mindful as well as the invaluable benefits it can bring to both our clients and ourselves; opening up space for clearer perspectives, creative ideas and a sense of wellbeing.

My blog post How Art Helps with Self Regulation explores further this important aspect of art and wellbeing.

The day

Through a day of experiential exercises, discussion and reflection I will share with you:

  • How the principles of mindfulness apply to art
  • How the process of creating affects our brain and wellbeing, including the relaxation response
  • How the act of making art slows down our dominant left hemisphere allowing us access to our invaluable right hemisphere
  • What flow is and why it is important
  • Art based exercises that create a sense of stillness and calm, reduce stress and build resilience

This workshop is not only a day of exploration but also one for you to experience art and mindfulness for yourself, leaving the day with a sense of wellbeing, as well as creative approaches you can use with your clients and yourself.

Who is the workshop for? The day is aimed at any coach who wants to explore mindfulness in a different way, understand more about art and wellbeing and have some new creative approaches for their practice. It is a great addition to any coach who is exploring and using art in their practice.

Requirements: All materials you need for the day will be provided, all you need to do is to come with an open mind and a willingness to try things out. There is no requirement to be able to draw or consider yourself to be creative to get the best from the day.
