Developing an art-based coaching practice

Introducing Person-Centred, Transformational Art Coaching

I am delighted to offer this AC CPD accredited online development programme designed for coaches who would like to start to develop an art-based approach in their coaching practice, introducing you to Art in Coaching’s Person-Centred Transformational Art Coaching – PCTAC (Sheather 2019, 2025).

The programme covers the core content within my book Coaching Beyond Words – Using Art to Deepen and Enrich Our Conversations, 2019 including the ART in Coaching Framework and the Five Stages of Coaching with Art (Sheather, 2019).

The programme is very experiential and reflective, enabling you to explore and discover for yourself how to coach with art in practice, manage yourself in a creative space and hold a safe place for your clients to work in this way. It gives you all the foundations for developing an PCT Art Coaching practice.

The programme consists of:

  • Four live online half-day modules,
  • Co-coaching both within the programme and after the programme, and
  • A follow-up group supervision session post the programme.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is for coaches who want to explore art-based coaching as part of their practice.

You will already be a qualified coach with some coaching experience. You may already be using creative approaches in your practice, although this is not a requirement.

No requirement to be creative

You do not have to be an artist or consider yourself to be creative to join this programme. Just be open to exploring your own creativity so you can develop your confidence in using this approach with your clients.

It is also important to commit yourself to developing a reflective practice. This is because art can take clients to deep and sometimes unexpected places.

Reflective practice ensures you develop the awareness and understanding to manage the space safely for your clients, maintain coaching boundaries and adhere to coaching ethical guidelines.

Joanna Wiles

Coach UK and programme participant

“Anna’s training offers a great entry point for any coach interested in working with visual art. I don’t consider myself to be “good at art”, but Anna is great at making everything accessible, whatever your background. Being able to work with clients in such a joyful, non-rational way has really enhanced my coaching practice.”

Materials

To get the best from this online programme it will be important for you to have to hand a range of materials that you can use, as well as be in a space that enables you to feel comfortable working creatively.

A full list of materials together with guidance on how to set up a creative learning space will be sent to you as part of the joining pack for the programme.

CPD and accreditation

This programme has been accredited with the Association for Coaching (AC) for 14 hours of CPD under their CPD Award Scheme. The AC certificate can only be awarded through attending all four modules and the group supervision session.

A CPD certificate from ART in Coaching is also awarded and, where a delegate is unable to attend the full programme and is therefore not eligible for the AC CPD certificate, they will receive the ART in Coaching certificate showing the number of CPD hours attended.

If you have any queries, or would like to discuss the programme, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with me and we can book a call.

A note about ICF CCEUs

I have been in touch with the UK chapter of the ICF and they have provided the following criteria with which courses accredited by other bodies can be submitted for CCEUs:

For coach education or training programs that have not been accredited by ICF:

  • You must submit proof of completion in the form of a certificate or signed letter issued by the program indicating the name of the program, dates of attendance, and total hours completed.
  • You must list the hours of content that are delivered synchronously and asynchronously. Note that 50% of all required instruction must be synchronous, allowing the opportunity for real-time interaction between instructors and students.
  • You must provide a concise class outline or syllabus that summarizes the names of classes/modules and the time allowed for presentation.
  • You must provide student materials. These materials may include a student or instructors’ manual, handouts, power points, or any other documentation that clearly illustrates the detailed curriculum.

Information provided 6th September 2024 from the UK ICF.

I can confirm that the programme certification and content enables you to meet all of these criteria for your ICF CCEUs submission.
